There are many opportunities to volunteer, from packaging gifts at Santa's Depot to Special Events, there's something for everyone. Each volunteer shift is a piece of the puzzle that helps to bring a smile to children at Christmas, reminding them that they are remembered and valued. 

2024 Season Reminders:

  • Santa's Depot Shifts open on November 1st, 2024
  • Delivery Day Shifts open on December 5th, 2024 at 12pm noon.
  • Special Event Shifts will open throughout the season - watch your email for updates!

Once shifts are full they no longer show on the calendar. Keep checking back for new openings throughout the season!

Please book no more than 1 shifts per week to allow everyone to experience the magic at Santa's Depot!

Individual Volunteering Opportunities

Individuals can volunteer at Santa's Depot from November 18-December 8.

  • Shifts must be scheduled in advance.
  • All volunteers must be 16 yrs of age or older
  • Shifts are scheduled Monday-Friday 9:30am- 12:30pm, Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:30pm-8:00pm and Saturdays from 9:30am-1:30pm. 
  • Volunteers may be involved in any of the following activities: preparing gifts for individual children, bagging gifts for specific families, sorting toy donations, condensing sorted toy bins, and putting batteries in toys.

 

This year, we are introducing a new direct application to 880 CHED Santas Anonymous for toy requests. Moving forward, toy applications will be submitted through the new Santas Anonymous database. We're looking for people who will assist in the day-to-day operations of the new Family Support Program. This will range from reviewing and entering applications to answering client and partner agency questions via phone and email. Training will be provided.
 
Who would make a great Family Support Coordinator? We're looking for people who are passionate about ensuring that no child goes without the magic of Christmas each and every year! To do this, you need people to be compassionate, detail-orientated, and able to use a computer (training will be provided). Shifts will be 3 to 4 hours in length.
 
Key Dates: 
  • Training: October 3 - 9, 2024 (self-paced online learning and one in-person session at Santa's Depot - please see more details below)
  • Family Support Program Opens: October 15, 2024 and will operate Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm.
  • Family Support Program Closes: December 20, 2024

From time to time, we are presented with the opportunity to raise funds/toys through a third-party activity such as collecting donations at the Edmonton Riverhawks or Edmonton Elks games or selling 50/50 tickets at Oil Kings games.

Volunteers are needed to look after parking & traffic control for Delivery Days - December 14 & 15. Volunteers must be over 18, please note that this is an outdoor job, and volunteers must be able to stay for the full shift. 

If you have a big smile, sunny personality and can-do attitude this may be the role for you. Greeters welcome all those who come to Santa's Depot.

Duties include:

  • Welcoming everyone to Santa's Depot
  • Answering a lot of questions
  • Ensuring volunteers sign in and out
  • Assist in receiving and recording toy donations
  • Accepting and receipting monetary donations
  • Answering a lot more questions

This role consists of collecting donated toys at pre-assigned locations and bringing them to Santa's Depot.  Drivers can be scheduled to pick up once or twice a week, every day, or be on the on-call list, it is up to you!

Duties Include: 

  • Collecting donated toys at pre-assigned locations and bringing them to Santa's Depot to be sorted and wrapped
  • Presenting yourself as a Santas Anonymous' volunteer to the public and store employees
  • Availability on December 21st to assist with picking up the toy boxes from donation locations would be greatly appreciated
  • Each driver and one helper will be provided with a Santa's Pick-up Driver photo identification, training on how to empty the 5-foot high donation boxes, and a supply of bags to put the toys in

Requirements for this position include a valid driver’s license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle. Toy Pick-up Drivers are welcome to work on their own or with family and friends.  Drivers give their time and use of their vehicles.
