Delivery Days 2024

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Toy Delivery is one of the most popular volunteer roles at Santas Anonymous, delivery drivers pick up toys from Santa's Depot and deliver toys to families all over Edmonton.

Delivering toys is a time-honoured tradition for many in the community - we truly couldn't do it without you!

Here's what you need to know as a Delivery Driver:

  • All delivery driver shifts are scheduled to take approximately 2 hours from start to finish
  • When you select a shift, the start time indicates when you need to be at the Burns Lot. Please arrive promptly at the start time to ensure we can get you checked in and set up for your deliveries
  • For example, if you've signed up for a 9 AM – 11 AM shift, you should be arriving at the Burns Lot at 9 AM. Arriving substantially late or early may mean missing your scheduled time, causing delays for you and others
  • Delivery Days Check-in - Burns Parking Lot 7008 120 Ave NW

Volunteer Parking & Traffic Control volunteers will be directing traffic in and out of the parking lot, and we ask that you be patient and courteous, as their priority is everyone's safety.

Santa's Delivery App

Before you shift - create an account at applytosantas.ca so you're all set to scan your deliveries when you arrive at Santa's Depot!

  • This is a web-based application that uses your internet browser and it does not require you to download from an app store
  • Our Delivery App will automatically send a text notification to the recipient when the bag is scanned, letting them know their toy package is on its way
  • NEW FOR 2024 - you can now communicate by sms directly through the Delivery App. This keeps both yours and the recipient information confidential and contained within the app

Porter Volunteers

Porters work together to help Delivery Drivers by bringing gift packages from Santa's Depot to their vehicles. Youth ages 16 and over are welcome to volunteer as porters, but one adult lead porter is required per four youth. All volunteers must be able to work independently and be capable of carrying loads of gifts to vehicles.

Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your scheduled shift time.

Please bring your valid insurance, driver's licence, a smartphone and your favourite elves!

You will need to step out of your vehicle to load up the toys, so please dress for the weather.

On average, it takes approximately 2 hours to deliver 8 packages.

No, but the deliveries we assign to you will be in a close geographic area.

We divide the city up into 18 delivery zones, and the deliveries are dispatched by emptying one zone at a time until all zones have been completed. With the drive-thru delivery system, it's simply impossible to have each driver choose a specific area of the city.

Bring the family's gift bag to the door and knock or ring the doorbell. Look at the tag for more instructions (ie. basement suite, buzzer number or broken doorbell). Toys must be left with an adult or older teenager (16+), please don't leave the bag with a child, neighbour or on the front step - even if you're asked to by the recipient.

If they're not home, mark the bag as undeliverable in your driver app and bring the bag back to Santa's Depot.

You are welcome to phone or text the number on the delivery tag for instructions. After calling, if you are still unable to deliver the bag, mark is a undeliverable in your driver app and return it to Santa's Depot.

Yes, you can leave the package with any adult at the home. If there is no adult or older teenager (16+), please return the package with the address tag attached to Santas Depot by 6pm Saturday and 3pm Sunday.

No, the bag must go to an adult within the home at the address on the bag. Even if the recipient requests it, please do not leave the bag on the front step or at another address. The recipient will have an opportunity to make an appointment to pick up the toys the following week.

On occasion a family’s situation changes, and they may refuse the delivery of the package. If this is the case, please mark it as refused in your driver app and return the bag to Santa's Depot.

Sure, you can try again later on the same day if time permits. If the bag still can't be delivered, mark the bag as undeliverable in your driver app and bring the bag back to Santa's Depot.

Delivery Days goes ahead sleet, snow or shine! The snowier or colder it is the more important it is for drivers to come out and make sure we get the toys delivered.
