Delivery Day Memories

When my 3 kids were in early elementary school, we tried to instill the message of giving as an important part of the Christmas spirit, so one year we lined up in the cold and waited an hour to receive toys to deliver. Ched Santas Anonymous had so many volunteers that we were given only one bag, but the impact on my kids has been timeless.

Just a week ago, my 25-year-old daughter said that the moment when we handed the bag to a mother and her children has stayed locked in her mind. She became very aware that while her parents were struggling to keep up with expenses, there were others who had so much less and that she knew that this meant so much to this family. My daughter could not have been more than 7 at the time! I am hoping that she will join me once again this year as it has much been too long since that moment.
